Trichloroethylene
July 15, 2015
A clear, heavy liquid with superb solvency.
Trichloroethylene has no flash point as determined by standard test methods. With the presence of common chemical stabilizers, trichloroethylene can maintain high stability. Its low boiling point also permit vapor degreasing with low heat input.
Trichloroethylene also stands out in that is can be easily recycled.
Industry Application :
-
Vapor degreasing for metal work
-
Extraction solvent for greases, oils, fats, waxes, and tars,
-
Chemical intermediate in the production of other chemicals, such as refrigerant.
-
Consumer products such as typewriter correction fluids, paint removers/strippers, adhesives, spot removers, and rug-cleaning fluids.
-
Trichloroethylene also was used in the past as a general anesthetic.
